Concept Art Workshop: Phobia Rough mock up.
Working on my own phobias along with the students. 🪳🤮
Working on concept art workshop rough mock up of a dark ride. Students came up with the theme “Phobia” and each stage has different phobias: hospital/asylum, dolls, bugs, the deep, and finally underworld. Students drew background and characters and I’m putting it together and doing the rough fly through.

Yes I know it’s vertical, my phone wouldn’t fit. So top parts were cut.
Last night's concept art workshop was about environments. So instead of lecturing we hit the ground running and I had the students design a ride "Phobia". The students decided on theme and the stages. If the students from each team finish their sketches on time, I'm going to do a rough scale mock up (paper and foam core) and film it from the rider perspective. Here are my doodle examples. I'm doing one of the sections.
Finished up the creature design with some quick PS painting per the Concept Art Workshop creature description.
Here is a creature based on a written description from the concept workshop I conducted last week. All of the students have to create a creature based on their interpretation of what I gave them. Here is my interpretation so far.
Tomorrow night is character development.
Working on animal studies for my concept art workshop.
I decided to go a different route with my REI demo that the students have to do.
And we’re off! Concept Art Workshop launched last night with lots of great attendees. Did some concept exercises and silhouette studies. Then did some monsters based off of scribbles to get them out of a rut of drawing the same way. Can’t wait to create new things with this crew!
Did a virus in the style of Courage the Cowardly Dog. Part of an assignment the students had to do, so I joined in.
